Innovation in Women’s Health and Surgical Care: Dr. Dipti Shukla Presented Two Research Papers at an International Conference
Dr. Dipti Shukla, Principal, Samarpan Institute of Nursing & Paramedical Sciences (SINPS), Lucknow, represented the institution at the 7th Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Conference, held in New Delhi on 24–25 September 2026, where she presented two innovation-based research papers focusing on women’s health and surgical care.
The prestigious conference was organized by the Commonwealth Nurses and Midwifery Federation (CNMF) in association with the Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI).
Both research papers showcased nurse-led innovations aimed at developing practical, patient-centred solutions to improve the quality and experience of women’s healthcare.
The first research paper, “Improving Post-Caesarean Recovery among Rural Mothers Using an Innovative Postpartum Abdominal Binder,” focused on an innovative postpartum abdominal binder developed to support rural mothers during recovery following Caesarean delivery. The innovation is intended to provide abdominal support while promoting comfort, mobility and improved recovery during the post-operative period.
The second research paper, “Comparative Study of Nurse-Made Single-Blade Vaginal Reflector during Gynaecological Vaginal Procedures,” presented a nurse-made innovation developed for use during gynaecological procedures. The innovation focuses on facilitating improved visualization and procedural access while supporting patient comfort and convenient handling by healthcare professionals.
Both innovations and their research findings received appreciation and positive interest from experts and participants at the conference. Further work is underway to advance the development of these innovations and explore their wider clinical application and potential commercial availability following completion of the necessary processes.
In addition to presenting her research, Dr. Shukla also moderated two scientific research paper sessions, facilitating academic discussion, scientific exchange and interaction among nursing and healthcare professionals.
Dr. Shukla highlighted the expanding role of nurses beyond conventional patient care, stating that “Nursing has immense potential not only in patient care but also in research, innovation and the development of practical healthcare solutions. Nurse-led innovations, particularly in women’s health, can make a meaningful contribution to patient comfort, safety and quality of care.”
The presentation of two innovation-based research papers at an international platform, along with the moderation of two scientific sessions, represents a significant academic and research achievement for Samarpan Institute of Nursing & Paramedical Sciences, Lucknow. The achievement reflects the institution’s commitment to research, innovation and evidence-based nursing practice, while highlighting the growing contribution of nursing professionals to healthcare innovation.
